Auckland Zoo Recount

                                      Zoo Recount

It was Wednesday 18th November. I walked into school normally. I saw the 6 buses parked outside the school gates. I talked to my friends and then went into the hall to get some breakfast. When I came outside I saw the classroom open so I went in.

My teacher was at camp with her son so we had a substitute named Sheona. The bell rang for school to start and two girls in my class gave us name tags and notebooks to take notes on. Sheona took the roll and the parent helpers gave out food and water bottle‘s to take to the zoo. We prepared our stuff and went to where the buses were parked.

I got excited, I hopped onto the bus and sat down by the window. Some of the other students from room 10 came on the same bus as us. The bus started and started moving. We were on the road to Auckland Zoo. On the road we saw an old lady behind us. We waved hi to her. We were on the motorway and playing I Spy on the bus while also singing songs.

We looked to our left and saw the Sky Tower and pasted western springs while on our way to the Auckland Zoo. Finally we arrived at the Zoo. I was filled with excitement. We got into lines and started walking inside. We sat down and got in groups. The adult that was guiding us was Jasmine’s mum.

The first animals we saw were giraffes eating, ostriches walking , ducks swimming, seagulls standing and zebras doing their own thing. We walked along the path and stopped where we saw meerkats just relaxing , parrots staying together v`1 lots of nyala just doing something together. As we walked along the path even more we came across a rhino, running around. We also saw loins that were sleeping and flamingos standing on one leg.

My group started getting hungry so we stopped to eat lunch just then I saw an elephant. After eating lunch we walked to where the elephant was and saw another elephant eating it’s lunch. After seeing the elephants we kept walking and found cheetahs laying down. The cheetahs were really cool but the servals were more amazing.

We went to see more animals like geckos, bell birds, takahe, lemurs and a tasmanian devil. Our adventure isn’t over yet, we saw more animals too like brolga, cockatoo, pigeon, emu and a kiwi. We also did parkour while on the path we met many more birds like weta, ruru and  kokopu. We also saw a penguin, seals and otters.

We found a park and played there for a while then went back on our adventure. We saw titi, toroa, skink, wasp, kea and monkeys. We saw a lot more animals like tieke pateke, poaka, tete, pupango and  kuruwhengi. We also found more sea animals like tune, eel and turtles. The path continued to more reptiles like chameleon, lizard and iguana.

We also saw spiders, capybara, tarantula, cotton-top tamarin, golden lion tamarin, tortoises and spider monkeys. To top off our adventure we saw emperor tamarin, an alligator and a crocodile. We saw every animal at Auckland Zoo. We walked back up the park to the exit where everyone was waiting. We hopped back on the bus and went back to school. It was an exciting day.
